Stalingrad

This is a record of my 28mm city ruins project. I call it Stalingrad but it can really be used for almost any WWII to Sci-Fi ruined city. The nexus of this project began about four years ago when my friend Neil built a couple of 18"x24" city blocks from scrap wood. I was floored when I saw them! I had to have them. They changed hands a couple of times and about two years ago they found their way to me. Last summer I came up with the crazy idea of building more sections to create a 3'x8' ruined city. With a lot of help from another friend, Tim, I added 4 additional sections. Click on the links below to see the progress of this project.

The bases of each section is either 1/2" or 3/4" plywood. The difference is corrected by shimming the thinner bases. The buildings are constructed from 1/8" masonite or birch plywood. The rubble is made from rock, sand, cut-up plastic model sprue, crushed roofing tile, floor tile and just about anything in my junk boxes.
